Carewise Health provides clinical triage, self-care guidance, decision support, and general health and wellness education through its nurse line program. Recent program expansions provide a larger scope of health advocacy services that help participants navigate the complex healthcare system.
- Single-source for healthcare information. A toll-free number staffed by experienced nurse counselors and benefits advocates is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for participants with immediate health and benefits concerns. This single point of access to health and benefits information simplifies the complexity of healthcare.
- Enhanced decision support. Nurse counselors access a large database of clinical guidelines to provide a deeper level of education for participants with concerns about specific conditions, treatments, and procedures. An on-staff medical researcher is available to investigate rare conditions or treatments beyond standard guidelines. Additionally, nurses help participants prepare for scheduled appointments, enhancing the relationship between them and their physician.
- Integrated programs, integrated messages. Carewise Health shares information across all health management programs using an integrated counseling support system. If the participant is eligible for, or enrolled in another Carewise Health program, the system prompts nurse counselors to facilitate enrollment, deliver appointment reminders, or provide additional content based on the participant’s condition.
- Clinically sound content. Carewise Health has created content that educates, motivates, and empowers participants be better healthcare consumers. All health management programs, from wellness to high-risk case management, consistently utilize educational information rooted in clinical guidelines.
- Benefits advocacy. Nurse counseling extends beyond traditional clinical services to include benefits and claims advocacy. Three-way conversations with the health plan or healthcare provider are facilitated to address the participant’s issues related to billing or claims. Participants report high satisfaction levels with this service, which keeps them engaged in their healthcare decisions.
Carewise Health is marketed by SHPS, Inc., a provider of integrated health solutions. SHPS has been providing nurse line services for more than 25 years and has been URAC accredited since 1998. Its programs are founded on the principle that educated, well-informed participants make the most appropriate healthcare decisions. All nurses supporting Carewise Health programs act as advocates, supporting behavior change, enhancing the individual experience, and improving clinical and financial outcomes.
