Annual SHPS 2008 Healthcare Symposium Engages Health Plan Decision-Makers
Thomas Scully Delivers Keynote Address November 12 – 14, 2008, Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, Miami, Fla.

Louisville, Ky. (November 11, 2008) – The annual SHPS Healthcare Symposium provides an opportunity for health plans to hear from industry experts and collaborate with peers on the role integrated care management plays to improve member health and reduce operational costs. This year, “Member Centric Delivery: Moving From Theory to Practice,” features a keynote address by Thomas Scully, former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), (http://www.landacorp.com/corp/news/hc_symp08.stm).
The symposium is designed to help clients explore trends and innovation in health care technology through presentations and interactive sessions, while providing the opportunity for industry leaders to exchange points of view.
"This symposium is designed to address the key opportunities and challenges that health plans face to deliver on the promise of member-centric delivery,” says Rishabh Mehrotra, president and CEO of SHPS, a leading provider of health improvement and health benefits solutions. “Industry experts, including the SHPS executive team, will lead discussions about ways in which health plans can create a member-centric platform to leverage information to serve members across every touch point from preventative care to the medical home.”
“Member Centric Delivery: Moving From Theory to Practice” will feature keynote speaker Thomas Scully, senior counsel at Alston & Bird, and senior advisor at Welsh Carson Anderson and Stowe, one of the largest private equity investors in healthcare. Scully’s practice focuses on health care regulatory and legislative matters, as well as on advising clients on health policy and strategies for health care delivery. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Scully was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate as the administrator of CMS, where he served from 2001 through 2003.
Industry experts will be on hand to provide thought leadership and discussion, including Joanne Galimi, research director of Healthcare at Gartner. She will address health care trends, creating a member-centric environment, and the implications for health plans.
Jay Dunlap, general manager for Landacorp, states, “We look forward to sharing our expertise and experience with colleagues. It will be a strategic opportunity to access an in-depth look at the CareRadiusSM suite of care management software applications. CareRadius promises to create competitive opportunities for health plans by simplifying workflow and decision-making processes, improve health outcomes for members, and lower the overall cost of care.”
